Product Description
Bimatoprost (CAS: 155206-00-1) is a synthetic prostaglandin analog and is primarily used in ophthalmic formulations for treating elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Available in both solution and implant forms, Bimatoprost works by enhancing aqueous humor outflow through the trabecular meshwork and uveoscleral pathways.
As a leading ophthalmic drug, Bimatoprost has received FDA approval for multiple indications. Initially approved in 2001 for treating ocular hypertension, it gained additional approval in 2008 for treating hypotrichosis (inadequate eyelash growth). The drug is marketed under various brand names, including Latisse® and Lumigan®, by Allergan.
